Challenged with shaping an existing industrial design into a manufacturable product - the V200 body camera challenged our teams to design for a wide variety of enterprise markets whilst keeping weight and size to a minimum.
Motorola's vision for the V200 was a next-generation body camera designed to equip frontline workers with the tools they need to stay safe and supported. The device had to perform across a wide variety of enterprise markets and user needs while remaining compact, lightweight, and durable.
The challenge lay in translating an existing industrial design foundation into an optimised and manufacturable product.
i4PD worked closely with Motorola’s in-house design group to integrate existing components within new product architecture. Our engineers successfully packaged new PCBs, powerful and lightweight batteries, and a new sealing system within a compact housing.
The sealing system achieved IP54 ingress protection, and the new battery configuration helped realise the product weight goal. Our design team worked on smoothing out the product form to ensure comfort for extended wear.
Released in 2025, the V200 delivered on its design goals -lightweight, durable, and user friendly. Feedback was very positive about the experience of using v200 when compared to its predecessor.
From any stage of product development, i4PD applies DFM expertise to turn complex designs into reliable, scalable products.
